I still find it hard to believe how tiny he was. All long legs. He reminded me of a spider monkey. And he was a clinger from the first moment I held him. He climbs up on my shoulder and that is where he stays as we walk around the house.
We both were searching for comfort when we found each other and I can only hope I have given him as much comfort as he has given me. He is my light in the darkness.
Neko has taken over for his sister at being my taskmaster. She needed her beauty sleep. He was doing a good job for a few minutes to let me take this picture but then he decided there were better things to do. He climbed up onto my chest for snuggles, so much for getting any writing done for the moment.
You may have seen the tag #theCatsEyeGang on all my photos of the cats who share their lives with me. What you may not know is that they are the inspiration for the characters in my manuscript I am currently working on.
The Tales of The Cat’s Eye Gang has been a labor of love as I have created characters that not only share each of the cat’s names but some of their characteristics. I decided when I began this story that I wanted to include my readers in the process and began a blog to share the story as I have been writing it.
Each post takes us into what I have written for the past few days, unedited, just as I wrote it. The first draft in all of its glorious calamity. You can find it on my author’s site here on WordPress or at its original home on Blogger. I have added the links below.
I am coming to the final chapters of the manuscript and thought now was the time to share the story of how the Cat’s Eye Gang was born. You can see all of the cat’s names simply by mousing over the photos. Enjoy!
As an observer of life, I find that things are more interesting outside rather than inside. But then you humans do something that makes me look inward again. Oh, well the sun feels good no matter which direction I choose to cast my gaze. ~Neko
You know how you suspect someone is watching you? You feel little prickles of awareness but everywhere you look there is no one to be found. Yeah, I had that feeling this morning in the bathroom. Guess who I found being a “Peeping Tom”? Mr. Neko was hiding from the rest of the clowder on top of the cabinet above the toilet.
