A Reason to Celebrate

Photo of a black cat sitting on a window sill.

Today is my handsome boy’s sixth birthday. If you would have told me back then how much he would mean to me, I probably would have laughed at you. Not because I would have thought it impossible, I just didn’t think there would ever be a cat to replace my Pooh Bear in my heart.

Now I realize that I didn’t have to worry about Neko replacing Pooh. I learned that my heart was big enough for both of my boys.

So here is my beautiful Neko Dubh posing on his birthday.

Brotherly Love

Two cats cuddling.

Go away humans. There is nothing here to see. Just two brothers showing their love for one another. Close the door and walk away. ~Dominic & Bo Jangles

Meeting In The Middle.

Three cats gathered together in a circle.

Excuse me, did I invite you to sit on my blanket? ~CeCe

I’m not doing anything. I just want to be close to you Ma’am. ~Dominic

Y’all are harshing my mellow. I am looking for the sun. I need a sunbeam to nap in. ~Bo Jangles

My Buddy

A lab mix dog and a black cat taking a nap together.

Magic, the Wonder Dog has been my buddy since I walked in the door. He still is trying to understand the fascination I have with the white tip of his tail. We are the official greeting team. He barks his welcome and warning, and I greet each visitor personally. ~Neko

Great Beginnings

Come back to bed Meowmy, snuggling is the greatest way to start the weekend. I mean, how can you resist a cuddle buddy like me? ~Neko

Big Laps

Two adult cats sharing a lap.

Excuse me big brother, I think there is enough room on Auntie’s lap for both of us. ~Dominic

Nope. I don’t think so baby brother. I like to stretch out on Auntie’s lap. That leaves no room for you. ~Bo Jangles

That’s okay Bo, I’ll just lay on top of you. See problem solved. ~Dominic

Outside Looking In

Spooky black cat
Our stray begger, who we have named Spooky because he likes to scare you.

Hi. My name at this house is Spooky. I am known by several in the neighborhood. I rule this backyard like a kingdom. I don’t let any other cats trespass in it. I have a older twin who lives inside. We like to mirror each other at the patio door.

It took awhile for the woofie inside to like me but now he will share my food and water which the nice humans provide for me. He also warms up a spot for me to sleep at night. Good woofie.

When I was a kitten I got injured and I came to this backyard to heal. The people really worry about me like I am one of their own. Well I think of them as mine so it is equal.

Looking Back.

Neko as a three month old kitten

I still find it hard to believe how tiny he was. All long legs. He reminded me of a spider monkey. And he was a clinger from the first moment I held him. He climbs up on my shoulder and that is where he stays as we walk around the house.

We both were searching for comfort when we found each other and I can only hope I have given him as much comfort as he has given me. He is my light in the darkness.

Napping Done Right.

When you are searching for the best napping spot. Nothing is better than a nice comfortable lap. ~ Bo Jangles

What is even better is if you are impeding someone progress. Such as not letting a writer work on her book. Sorry Mama… Not sorry. ~Neko Dubh

I’m Awake, huh?

Dominic hears the food can open.

What? Huh? I’m awake. Was that the sound of yummies being opened? Wait for the next can to be opened before climbing out of bed. ~Dominic
