Cat Tales

Some of my followers may know that I  am a writer as well as a blogger. Well here is the proof in black and white. My first draft of my first book is complete.

The story developed while I was trying to come up with subject matter for a blog to write and associate with my author’s platform. I decided to use the cats as models for my book’s characters. Thus Tales of The Cat’s Eye Gang was born.

As I said I have finished the first draft and I welcome you to read it in all of its unedited glory on my sister site:

I hope you check it out and let me know what you think of it.

The Cat’s Eye Gang

You may have seen the tag #theCatsEyeGang on all my photos of the cats who share their lives with me. What you may not know is that they are the inspiration for the characters in my manuscript I am currently working on.

The Tales of The Cat’s Eye Gang has been a labor of love as I have created characters that not only share each of the cat’s names but some of their characteristics. I decided when I began this story that I wanted to include my readers in the process and began a blog to share the story as I have been writing it.

Each post takes us into what I have written for the past few days, unedited, just as I wrote it. The first draft in all of its glorious calamity. You can find it on my author’s site here on WordPress or at its original home on Blogger. I have added the links below.

Tales of The Cat’s Eye Gang

I am coming to the final chapters of the manuscript and thought now was the time to share the story of how the Cat’s Eye Gang was born. You can see all of the cat’s names simply by mousing over the photos. Enjoy!

Do You Fidget?

My post today is about the latest fad sweeping the nation. The Fidget Spinner. Do you have one yet? I was one of those people who, when it came out, said that they didn’t need one and would never use one. Well, never say never.

Yes, behold my lovely new toy.  I caved into the fad. Mine even glows in the dark. Yeehaw!

I have to admit there is something comforting in watching the little thing spin. The sound of the ball bearings humming as the spinner gyrates between my fingers. The colors a blur as I manipulate it to spin faster and faster.

I think the reason these things are so popular is that they handle a problem that no one thinks they suffer with but in truth they do. Not being able to keep your hands still. Do you remember when you were little and if you were like me, had to go sit for a couple hours every Sunday to church?  I would have killed for something like this. My hands still smart from getting whacked with the rolled up church bulletin for fidgeting in my seat.

I can’t think of anyone who can keep their hands still. They are always spinning pencils, pens, or rings on their fingers. Something to keep their hands busy. Brings to mind the Bible verse- Idle hands are the devil’s workshop ~Proverbs 16:27. Well, we no longer need to worry because now we have something to keep our hands from being idle.

As an additional benefit. These spinners are great for people with Autism. My nephew was just introduced to them and he loves them. He is starting to have quite a colorful collection of all different types of the Fidget Spinners. Check them out on Amazon.com They have many different types and designs.

Anyway, hope you are enjoying your day. and if you have a  Fidget Spinner, have fun spinning.

This is in no way a promotion of the Fidget Spinner, it is just my own observation.

A Spark

spark

In the darkness all around I search for some sign. Of how my life can go on in this midnight of my life. Through the shadows, I wander searching for something I can’t define. Something to show me which path in life to stride. Some spark of light to awaken the corners of my mind.

All it takes is one small spark to light my world anew. To waken me to possibilities until now I never knew. A guiding force in something so small, profound in it affects. To open my eyes and show me how the darkness to reject. A spark to nurture into flame, a world to set on fire.

Sparks To Light A Fire

When looking at this simple flower, my writer’s mind creates a whole new world. Alien landscapes, a dystopian society, sparks to fire up so many possibilities in one small flower.

Does my writer’s mind miss the beauty that is just in the flower? Never, but it is while delving deeper into the essence of what makes it so beautiful that art is born.
